What's Happening “Digitally” at West Elementary?

Students in Grades 3-5
  • Will receive three introductory lessons to typing on typing.com
  • Once they have had  three sessions and have demonstrated proper technique  and how to use this program, they will receive a letter to take home with student user name and password. The practice now becomes something they do at home. This program tracks their speed and accuracy and Ms. Fowler(Digital Learning Specialist) can see who needs support and who has taken off!
  • All students in grades 3-5 are learning about digital citizenship and being co-taught this lesson by Ms. Kaplan(Media Specialist) and Ms. Fowler (modeling working well with others)
  • It's Digital Citizenship Week! What does that mean? This week is a perfect time for families to reflect on the role technology plays in their lives. Start a conversation about digital safety and responsibility with your child. Focus on building positive online habits. The attached family tips sheet will help you get the conversation started.  Throughout the year, our Digital Learning Specialist and Media Specialist will keep the conversation going by teaching lessons in responsible digital citizenship to students in all grades. Stay tuned for updates
