South School Rocks Recycling

It is a very exciting time in Andover with the new recycle initiative.  Students at South learned about the positive impact recycling has on the environment not only now but in the future. It only took a few days for students to get the hang of the stations:
  • Food Donation
  • Liquids
  • Bottles and milk cartons
  • Compost
  • Trash
We went from nine trash bags in one day to one! Students learned about food donation and what it means to give back to others not as fortunate as ourselves. All food donations are being delivered to Lazarus House, which helps families living in poverty regain their dignity and become self-sufficient members of our community by offering them emergency shelter food and clothing.
A very special thank you to Marc Fournier, Director of Public Works, and the Green Team volunteers!

TOGETHER WE ARE CHAMPIONS!

South School's theme this year is based on the work of Rita Pierson, a well-renowned educator and leader. Please see her inspiring YouTube video below.

South is tying in their new TIGER mascot, Dr. McBride's retirement gift to the school, into our theme. Morning announcements, monthly grade level meetings and positive behavior strategies and interventions will be weaved throughout the school day and focus on every child being a champion!
The students were very excited about our new theme song, "Try Everything"

They learned about the Champions of the Day as well as our belief at South:
You are important
You can do it
We won't give up on you !
